Announces a Program of Grants for Graduate Students
in Psychological and Educational Measurement Programs
(Revised April 2011)
Purpose
Grants of up to $1,000 are available to support costs of psychological and educational measurement research that is part of the graduate student's training. Priority will be given to grants that will be used for
- Purchase of computer software
- Purchase of specialized books
- Purchase of computer hardware
- Other research expenses
The program may also fund travel to meetings/conventions to deliver an accepted paper.
Qualifications
- Applicant must be currently registered in a Ph.D. or M.A. program with a concentration in psychological or educational measurement at an accredited university.
- Applicant's status must be confirmed by a faculty member in the same program at the applicant's institution.
- Applications will be accepted from applicants worldwide.
Terms of Award
- Maximum award is $1,000 ($750 for travel originating and terminating in the U.S.).
- Priority will be given to requests that include matching funds from the applicant's university.
- Priority will be given to applicants who have not received a prior award from this program.
- Applicants who have received prior awards are ineligible for additional awards for a period of twelve months.
- All awards will be paid by check in U.S. funds drawn directly to the applicant.
- Applicants are required to submit a report on the expenditure of funds within 60 days of receipt of an award, including copies of receipts for eligible expenditures.
- Applicants are required to refund unspent amounts of $25 or more.
- The number of awards made per year is at the discretion of the Awards Committee (approximately 15-20 awards are anticipated per year, depending on investment experience).
Application
Awards will be made on a quarterly basis. Completed applications received by the end of each calendar quarter (March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31) will be acted upon within 30 days.
Applicants should submit by mail the following materials in a single mailing:
- Completed application form (Word document), including faculty member's certification.
- A copy of the applicant's student identification showing current registration at a university.
- For funds for computer software or hardware, books, or other research expenses, a maximum two-page summary of the proposed research and rationale for the funds requested.
- For funds for travel, a copy of the materials submitted to the convention/meeting and a copy of the acceptance letter.
